The Studio

We are a membership-based community quilting, machine embroidery, and sewing co-share studio.  This is a space for beginners and experienced sewists alike.

Have you always wanted to learn to quilt, but don’t know where to start?

This is the place where you can explore different machines and have access to all the tools you’ll need without the huge investment that it entails. You'll also have access to many other aids and someone to help you on your journey!

Are you an experienced sewist that maybe doesn’t have the space at home to have all your things out and ready for you to create?

Then this is your place too!

We have all the supplies you’ll need to begin creating right away, but you’re also welcome (and even encouraged!) to explore the many fabric stores around to find the perfect things for your project.

Who am I?

My journey into quilting began over thirty years ago when my mother-in-law (then my boyfriends mother!) taught me about quilting. I made my first quilt for him while in college! This quilt kept him warm in college, has been wrapped around all 5 of our children (and us!) at various times in our lives, has had so many picnics eaten on it, has been used to make about a million forts, has had to have slime and thinking putty removed from it (more than once!)…yet it is still here and still part of our lives.

A quilt is so much more than just a blanket or covering; it is love, it is caring. Someone takes the time to think about you, find a design that speaks to them, chooses fabrics that they think you will like, spends time cutting and piecing each part. So much of them goes into this gift for you…even if the actual assembly or quilting is done by someone else.

When I lived in Binghamton, NY, I was invited to join a quilt group. This group of women met every week at each other’s homes, and welcomed me with open arms. We spent every week sewing together, learning together and from each other, laughing together and sometimes even crying together. Many beautiful quilts were created (most not by me!); one for my son when he was born and one for me when I had to move away which still hangs in my kitchen 16 years later. My 20 year old daughter still has her “pink blankie” (a baby quilt made by an older cousin.) It will always be a prized possession of hers. My now 23 year old daughter learned to quilt when she was about 10-12, and made many quilts (some of which she let me hang in the studio!)

I am passionate about this art form, and want everybody to experience the joy it can bring to so many lives. I created this space and call it a “community quilt studio” because I hope to recreate a kind of “quilt group” like I was once part of; a space where we can come together and work on our projects, share creativity and knowledge, camaraderie, and just relax in a warm and inviting space where we can be free to create whatever we choose.

If you have an idea, I’m happy to help make it become a reality, and I would be even happier helping YOU to make it…whichever is best for you. If you’d like to come in and see what we’re all about, contact me and we’ll find a convenient time for you to come check out the studio, if I can help with anything else, please let me know!

Quilting has such a rich history, and is really experiencing new life; its very exciting! Come join us… You Belong Here!
